Nia means “purpose” in Swahili. Today's guest in our "Girl, I've Been There Too" series recognized that her purpose in life is to set an example for her child and, in doing so, had to make a difficult decision.

Experts are great but don't always know the personal story! Divorce can be a lonely experience and it can sometimes help to know that someone else understands what you are going through because they have "been there too!"
Welcome to the "Girl, I've Been There Too Series" of the Grown Girl Divorce podcast. These are intimate conversations with Black women who are sharing their stores about:
- The lessons learned about the divorce process;
- How they really talked to their kids about their divorce;
- Navigating being a Black woman going through a divorce;
- The financial and professional impact of a divorce;
- Why being a "strong Black woman" is not always the best answers;
- How to find the right therapist for you and your children;
- When, and how, to tell others about your divorce;
- The best thing that has happened since divorce; and much more!
These stories reveal the joy and pain of the divorce process. This is not a "tell all" about the Ex but a true discussion of how each of these women have found their way back to themselves while moving forward in a divorce. As parents, we try so hard not to “mess things up” for our children but we need help! We definitely need help when it comes to divorce and kids!
